Reducing Waste In Each Project

In the work we do, revitalizing homes, we often come across appliances, accessories, and goods that will not work for the particular project but we do our best to inventory and re-use as much as we can. This is not always the most efficient way to flip a house by any means but it is important to us that we take care to keep an eye on our environmental footprint and the impact we make. We not only work to make an impact on a micro-level but are focused on the impact we make on a macro-level.

Here’s how we were able to re-use items and reduce waste in a recent project in SE Portland.

  • When we removed the old carpet, we discovered hardwood floors that we were able to refinish. These gorgeous floors added character and reduced waste.

  • The farmhouse sink that we found in a previous project, made a beautiful kitchen sink in this house.

  • The existing door hardware and light fixtures would have been much easier to just replace with new ones but instead, we kept the original charm of the house and kept these fixtures out of the landfill by bringing them back to life

  • A mirror we discovered in a previous project made a beautiful accent for this SE home

  • We were able to help reduce future energy use by installing new vinyl windows and low-flow toilets for the family that now loves this home
